As an out-of-network provider, I do not accept insurance and operate on a self-pay basis only. This allows for greater flexibility and a more personalized approach to care without the pressure of a diagnosis from insurance companies. I’m happy to provide receipts for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. However, I cannot guarantee a diagnosis and require a minimum of three to five sessions before offering a potential diagnosis.

Am I ready for trauma therapy?

Truthfully, are we ever really 100 % ready for anything? I have found that this question can often prolong suffering if we wait for the ‘right time’. Instead, we might want to ask, what would help me feel more ready to start this work? I spend time with you determining your readiness level and from there we will see what you might need to feel more equipped. Usually this involves more coping skills, confidence and internal safety. I can help you build these within yourself!

Common Questions…

Is virtual therapy as effective?

The short answer is yes, absolutely. I spent many years meeting with clients in person before transitioning to all virtual and it feels equally as meaningful and transformative. Some pros I often hear my clients mention are increased flexibility, access to your comforts (space, pets, supports) and less commute/travel time to the office. If you are on the fence about virtual, I invite you to give it a couple sessions and make a decision from there as to whether it’s a good fit or not.

I’ve tried therapy many times, but nothing ever really changes. Maybe I can’t be helped…

I often hear this from new clients. Particularly with individuals who have an extensive trauma history. I will share with clients that often therapists tend to stay at a cognitive level when working with trauma. However, in order to access those deeper traumatized parts, we have to take approaches that go beyond our cognitive & intellectual awareness and into the body. When we move beyond the cognitive level, real transformation starts and healing begins.
